Quick Smoke: Urbano Connecticut

Quick Smoke: Urbano Connecticut

Over the last few weeks the staff and I have had a wonderful time sampling the new lines of Matt Urbano. He is someone you should get to know, because not only does he make a great cigar, but he is selling them for some killer prices! We have already reviewed the Sumatran which you can read about here, but today’s focus will be on the Urbano Connecticut.

The first feature you will notice about the Connecticut is its smooth Ecuadorian wrapper. With minimal veins and a smooth texture it is an enticing treat indeed. The body is slightly spongy in its tobacco dispersement, but the cap is firm. Upon cutting the cigar I immediately get a firm but smooth draw that allows a good flow of air to channel through the cigar. As I smell the cigar on the pre-light, I notice a sweet hay like note wafting through my nostrils.

Now the fun begins as I begin to smoke my cigar I instantly taste the floral notes and a hint of nutmeg. The cigar has a tight grey ash and is burning evenly. My enjoyment stays high because not only is this Connecticut delivering big in the flavor department, but it is also producing copious amounts of thick creamy smoke. As the cigar continues its path the flavors develop more fully into a dominant nutmeg flavor that is simply delightful, as the middle wanes and leads into the final third of the cigar, the nutmeg fades and the cigar ends on a sweet floral note.

I must say for a first attempt at producing cigars Urbano is doing everything right! The Connecticut and sumatra were both phenomenal cigars and their price tags are sure to make you smile. So if you are a fan of a creamy Connecticut that has sweet floral and nutmeg notes, an even burn, and voluminous smoke, then look no further than the Urbano Connecticut!
