C&C Cigars is a company many of you are probably not too familiar with yet. However, the brothers Chiusano have been diligently making quality sticks for the industry for quite some time now. A while back they were successful enough that their Cusano lines were eventually acquired by the Oettinger Davidoff group. Unhappy with the direction their brand was heading they decided to part ways with the legendary upper echelon behemoth in order to get back to their roots. This brave step forward has resulted in the new brand name C&C. While one brother was served with a non-compete clause the other took the reins with the intent of creating a high quality, low dollar vitola. Soon after the IPCPR and tonight I sampled their new Connecticut which can be found in a bundle line called the Roll Back. The new bundled line is offered in both a Connecticut and a Natural Ecuadorian shade wrapper. What’s interesting is that they call their Maduro a Natrual due to the fact they do not process the wrapper like many companies do. They stand proud of the fact that they do not apply any oils, paints or wine to their Maduro as is common amongst many Maduro wrappers. According to C&C “the Roll Back name comes from the passion we had for getting back to doing business the way we love to. “ Also, the name comes from the fact that they are rolling back the prices. At an MSRP of about two dollars a stick it’s hard to go wrong. Currently, they are offering the Roll Back series in three sizes, a Robusto, a Toro and a Churchill. One thing is for sure; if you are in the mood for a good Connecticut that won’t break the bank then look no further. Completely designed from the bottom up the construction is excellent. The draw is good and the burn ran true and firm throughout the smoke. The flavor is pure Connecticut with a mild sweetness, creamy smoke and just enough body to keep one’s attention from foot to cap. I can honestly say that at only two dollars, their Connecticut is simply a no-brainer. It’s obvious that the stick is specifically designed for the everyday smoker on a budget. All in all, if you’re in the mindset to try something new and not particularly interested in emptying your wallet then the new C&C Roll Backs are for you. So get on board and see for yourself what the Cusano brothers have been up too!
