Here’s one stick that epitomizes the phrase, “you’ll know it when you see it.” Created by La Gloria Cubana, part of the General Cigar family, this stick is as unique to smoke as it is to look at. According to the press release, “Inspired by the iconic “Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration” situated high atop the center of Santiago; La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Obelisco heightens the innovation that has become a trademark of the Artesanos series.” As the third installment in the Artesanos trilogy La Gloria Cubana strikes gold with this blend. The impeccably smooth and creamy blend contained within this one of a kind cigar is a direct result of the expert blending team comprised by Benji Menendez, Michael Giannini and Rick Rodriguez. The cigar produces an earthy, velvety smoke that soon develops into a combination of sweet chocolaty and cedar notes with a slight hint of spiciness. The real shocker that I discovered while smoking this stick was the shear amount of aromatic smoke it continually boasted from such a small package. The only real downside I have discovered after having had several of these now is that they have a tendency to burn a bit unevenly resulting in the ash canoeing and needing to be corrected. However, with a perfectly cool draw, excellent flavor and only slight corrections required in order to get an even burn this is a must try for the medium to full body cigar lover. Overall, go get at least one of these while you still can. Between a limited edition run and the fact that the box containing the twenty-five cigars has been giving brick-and-mortar retailers headaches due to its extremely unique dimensions and resulting loss of retail space, who knows how long you might have before these works of art are gone!
