Pre-release First Look: J Fuego Edicion de Familia
As reported earlier this year by yours truly, Jesus Fuego has blended a special cigar which is designed to be a tribute to his family’s long and storied history in the cigar industry. What better name for such a cigar than Edicion De Familia? This highly anticipated line is not quite ready for release as pricing has not been set (packaging came in at a lower cost than initially predicted so Jesus is going to lower the prices of the cigars accordingly!) so orders were not being taken. Clearly, Jesus is taking his time with this one to make sure that everything is perfect for the limited number of retailers lucky enough to be on the short list to receive this highly sought after release.
Upon entering the opening night Gala Reception for the IPCPR show last week, I heard a familiar voice call out my name. Struggling to focus through the thick haze of smoke, I was finally able to pick Jesus Fuego from the mass of humanity which flooded the banquet hall. Boy, was I glad I did! As soon as we were done with our hellos, Jesus reached into the pocket of his guayabera and pulled out a pre-release robusto from the aforementioned Edicion De Familia line.
It was clear that Jesus wanted me to fire it up right away and as much as I would have liked to wait for a more appropriate time to give our readers a full review, how could I refuse the honor of being one of the first to smoke this new blend with its creator?
The conditions in the ballroom made it nearly impossible to enjoy the nuances of this fine cigar. It was obvious to me that Jesus Fuego had created something special. Strength and spice were obvious along with flawless construction but in a room filled with several hundred smoldering cigars, I hesitate to try and go into great detail regarding aroma and flavor. Based on this early sample we are in for a treat when the Edicion De Familia is finally available. I am anxiously awaiting my next opportunity to smoke one of these bad boys under more ideal circumstances, maybe one of the box-pressed. Jesus, if you are listening, I really need some more of these to try!
