One might say this is the week of the Partagas 1845. Announcements have been running around the blogosphere and in the formal print channels about the impending rebirth of the Partagas line with the 1845 project. As was teased at the end of the press release earlier in the week from General, was the promise of a new innovative package that would set the 1845 apart from the rest of the pack. True to form the packaging was revealed today via Cigar Aficionado and is to General’s credit quite different than anything on the current market.
To the left one can see the 1845 box propped at a thirty degree angle to allow for a gravitational feed of the cigar. This elevation is produced by the acrylic lid which slides off the top to create the base. Also unique to this packaging is its built in plackard card that reveals information about the blend. The last feature worth mentioning is the open slot in the front where the cigars can be accessed and lifted from their spot in the box.
The Partagas 1845 packaging was designed by Ed Lahmann, Associate Brand Manager, to show off the cigar and prominently elevate the brands identity in the humidor. Time will tell if this grand transformer of a box lives up to its expectations, but one thing is for sure, either way this is one package design that definitely is thinking outside the box.
