First Look at the Montecristo Epic
Altadis is set to release a line extension to Montecristo, which will be a “New, modern, full bodied” blend. Among their goals are to modernize the Montecristo brand and elevate it’s image. With these goals in mind, they’ve enlisted a special team of blenders dubbed “Grupo De Maestros” and leaf experts to create a flavorful and aromatic cigar featuring vintage tobaccos. The packaging will also be updated in a “New, modern, bold” manner to bring attention to the Epic.
Robusto 5×52 ($13.00)
Toro 6×52 ($14.00)
Churchill 7×56 ($15.00)
Wrapper: Select Ecuadorian Habano
Filler: Vintage Nicaraguan and Dominican
Rolled in [the]: Dominican Republic
The sample toro is an appealing chocolate brown with a moderate sheen, perfectly constructed with an outstanding draw. The wrapper has a muted, nutty tobacco aroma. I’m not in full review mode right now, just casually smoking, but the cigar has the fuller body which they were after and is smooth and elegant. I think Altadis might be on the right track with this stick.
