Drew Estate Announces Herrera Esteli
About a year ago when we rebranded our blog from PuffingCigars.com to CigarBrief.com we came out with a story that Jonathan Drew and Willy Herrera of El Titan de Bronze fame were teaming up. Fast forward to a little over a month later and the initial story became record and the rest as they say is history.
Since then and really since the IPCPR Willy has been hard at work learning the ways of Drew Estate. He has learned the art of their house style (rolling, curing, fermenting etc…) and has walked the fields and had free reign of the tobacco storehouses. Willy has even had the opportunity to hand pick his team of rollers in the factory and work with them exclusively on his blend. All of this indoctrination and work has been towards continuing the development of their premium brand lines, and as of today the first Willy Herrera blend is being announced: Herrera Esteli.
I talked with Jonathan Drew over the last week and he was very excited about the project. He stated that “every premium brand they had launched had a theme,” and for Herrera Esteli the theme is its “the first time cuban influence has been brought into Drew Estate.” Up to this point the company’s success wasn’t tied to cuban lineage, but rather it was created and forged on their own terms by creating unique and high quality products.
Herrera Esteli is the first cuban injection into their culture and will be all about “heritage” and “Tradition” stated Drew. As of right now all we know about the cigar is that Jonathan Drew confirmed that the wrapper would feature an ecuadorian habano leaf. As far as release dates go we were informed that the first tastings would be at Casa de Montecristo on the 23rd in Illinois at a BOTL (Brothers of the Leaf) event. For a little more info on the event you can learn more about it here.
Drew Estate is looking forward to this next chapter in their history and is excited about their venture with Willy Herrera. It has been a marriage that has fused the unique mindset of Drew Estate with the tradition and heritage of the cuban style. Stay tuned in the weeks ahead as we go down to Drew Estate’s factory in Esteli and hopefully get to bring you more information of the new happenings at Drew Estate and more information about Herrera Esteli.
