Asylum Reveals New Ogre Cigar & OSOK Lines
Tom Lazuka was in town this week to promote his new Asylum lines. For those who don’t know, Asylum is one of the four new companies from Christian Eiroa. Every company has its niche and the Asylum brand is currently the edgier class. This has allowed Tom to not only create some great lines at an everyman’s price point, but also introduce some fun projects as well. One new project he mentioned was “The Ogre” which is essentially his 7×70 blend in a barber pole format with a maduro and candela wrap. Tom said that the key to this project not having the grassy taste is finishing the cigar with a maduro tip. According to Lazuka, the maduro creates the sweetness and balances the candela wrapper. An official release date has not been set yet, but keep your eyes on the horizon for The Ogre.
In other exciting Asylum news, Tom announced a new Edgar Hoill line. Edgar Hoill for those who don’t know is an LA based photographer and is perhaps best known by his moniker OSOK (One Shot One Kill). Hoill currently has been linked to specialty projects in the cigar world via Camacho and Room 101. Camacho and Matt Booth have utilized the OSOK brand and style for a limited run cigar that was released earlier during the last year. To date however, Matt Booth has stated on the record, that he doesn’t plan to do any future OSOK lines as it was a limited run product. While many consumers were disappointed by this, they can now rejoice, because the OSOK line has new legs under the Asylum banner.
Tom Lazuka announced when he was in town that Edgar Hoill would have his own cigar line initially and then future OSOK lines to come. The initial offering will be available in only a few of the traditional sizes and a project that can be produced year round. According to Tom, the line is almost ready to be shipped and is only awaiting banding and some final box details. Each box will feature OSOK art which has become quite popular due to the Room 101 OSOK lines and Xikar accessories. Another cool aspect of the project will be that each box comes festooned with an OSOK bandanna that also features the OSOK art. Tom has confirmed that an official press release detailing the line will come shortly and the release of the Edgar Hoill line is slated for the end of the month.
