With a license to thrill and looks that kill, the vesper martini is destined to become a classic! This strong, sleek, and sexy drink is known best as being the personal choice of James Bond. Ian Fleming, the author of the James Bond novels is credited with inventing the vesper. As a bartender, I have seen an increase in popularity due to the James Bond movie ‘Casino Royale’. In the movie, James Bond (Daniel Craig) explains to a cocktail server how to make it. Now your probably not a cocktail server, and Im no James Bond, but here is the recipe for one of my favorite martinis!
2 ounces of gin ( I recommend Hendricks, or Bombay Sapphire)
1 1/4 ounces vodka (you cant go wrong with the Goose)
1/2 ounce Lillet Blanc
Lemon twist for a garnish
pour the alcohols into a cocktail shaker with ice
shake! never stir!
pour into a martini glass
garnish with a lemon twist ( tricked out car, machine gun, or beautiful women optional!)
There you have it a classy and sophisticated cocktail that is ideal for parties, entertaining a few guests, or relaxing at home.
You could also try the secret agent thing and order one of these next time you hit up a casino. Drink well my friends!
