Mixin’ it Up: The Old Fashioned

Mixin’ it Up: The Old Fashioned
The old fasioned is a favored cocktail amongst the captains of industry that truly lives up to its name. The original recipe of this pre-prohibition beverage is believed to have been created in 1895. This slightly sweet, yet potent beverage has made a resurgence (Thanks to hit T.V. shows such as Mad Men.) and several variations of the cocktail exist. Below is the recipe that I personally prefer to serve up to my discriminating clientele. Enjoy!
You will need:

1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon of water
1 orange slice

1 cherry

2 dashes angostura bitters

2 ounces of rye,bourbon,or whiskey

How to Serve:

muddle the sugar,fruit,water, and bitters
add ice
and then add the whiskey
garnish with an orange slice and a cherry serve the drink in a rocks glass
cheers!   -jake (Your five-diamond bartender)
